The Instinct series is a kind of landscape body of work that captures dynamic moments occurring within the natural world—moments unmediated by human perspective—and renders them through painterly expression. The depicted scenes often originate from the cyclical logic of power that governs life in the wild. For instance, they might portray the form of an ancient tree standing resolute amid an unrelenting blizzard, or the fierce struggle between predator and prey—an instant charged with the tension between life and death.

Through these images, I hoped to offer viewers an opportunity to reexamine and reflect upon the forces that reside within their own lives, echoing the primal vitality and endurance embedded in nature itself.
